Aloners

A Fast-Food worker asked me if I was OK.

She caught me out, for I am lonely.

And angrily I walked out of the restaurant.

But when I am strong again

I will come back and see her,

But I know it will take some time;

Because loneliness is lost,

Because fast food is anytime.

And when I see her,

I’ll tell her what she did for me,

And when was she lonely.

And if we find time to talk,

We will also go for a walk,

Alone together, fortunately.

The fate of loneliness when intimacy begins,

Is for us to try and share.
